Instagram Expands into Long-Form Video with IGTV



Instagram has launched IGTV, a new platform dedicated to long-form vertical videos, signaling its intent to compete with YouTube. 

Unlike traditional Instagram posts, IGTV allows creators to upload videos up to an hour long, making it an appealing option for influencers and brands looking to engage audiences in new ways.

While IGTV has potential, adoption remains uncertain. YouTube has a strong grip on long-form content, and Instagram’s core audience is used to shorter clips. 

If IGTV can attract major creators and introduce better discovery tools, it could become a serious player in the video streaming space. Otherwise, it risks being another forgotten experiment in Facebook’s portfolio.
