AgriHack 2018: 6 Nigerian Agritech Startups Shine Among 23 African Finalists
AgriHack 2018 has recognized six Nigerian agritech startups as part of its 23 African finalists, marking Nigeria as the most represented country in the competition. The initiative, organized by the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), aims to support and accelerate youth-driven digital solutions in agriculture.
A Competitive Selection Process
From a pool of 325 applicants, 26 startups made it to the final round—23 from Africa and 3 from the Caribbean. The finalists were selected based on:

✅ Team expertise and strategic milestones
Meet Nigeria’s AgriHack Finalists
1️⃣ AgroInfoTech Africa – Uses technology and innovation to empower smallholder farmers and agribusinesses, providing inancial services, risk cover, and modern farming knowledge.
2️⃣ Daily Fresh Farms – A web-based solution that converts cassava peels into low-cost livestock feed, reducing environmental waste while promoting rural financial inclusion.
3️⃣ Ankora Global Services – A commercial farming hub that offers modern farm management solutions, enabling professionals and new farmers to invest in agriculture without active involvement.
4️⃣ Crop2Cash Ltd – Acts as a procurement service, connecting food manufacturers to quality-assured crops from thousands of farmers through a cost-effective supply chain.
5️⃣ Farmignite – A crowdfunding platform that allows individuals to finance farms, empower small-scale farmers, and share in the returns—making agriculture more accessible to everyone.
6️⃣ Kitovu Technology Company – Uses data-driven mobile solutions to increase farmers’ yields, ensure guaranteed offtake, and link them to buyers, reducing post-harvest losses.
A Strong African Presence
Other finalists represent countries like Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda, Benin, Togo, and the Caribbean, showcasing Africa’s growing innovation in agritech.
